Shelley Sykes Biography: Shelley Sykes is a British-born Australian author, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and has been called the “happiness guru.” She has had a diverse professional career, including as an actress, producer, director, voice actor, singer, and television presenter. Sykes holds an MBA, a PhD in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in IT and Journalism.
She is the founder of Happy Charity, an organization that aims to provide “hope, happiness, and health to those who suffer.” Sykes is the author of several books, including her autobiography, Callum’s Cure, which chronicles her experiences with her son, Rory, who was born blind and had cerebral palsy.
Sadly, in January 2025, her son, Rory Callum Sykes, died at the age of 32 in the Los Angeles wildfires that engulfed his Malibu mansion. Despite Shelley’s desperate rescue efforts, Rory died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Born on 29 July 1962 in West Yorkshire, England, Shelley Sykes grew up in a family that celebrated life’s milestones together. For example, it is notable that her, her mother Pauline, and later her son Rory all have the same birthday.
